Lilla Regementsvagen 33, 415 28 Gothenburg
Here it is / Här är det:
This museum is in honour of the men and women who served here. First these premises in Kviberg were used by the Swedish Artillery regiment called Royal Gota Artillery Regiment (A2) and later on Gota Anti Aircraft Regiment (LV6) in Gothenburg. The surroundings are the old horse hospital built during the A2 period about 1895.
Painting from that time The early history of the regiment goes back to 1689 at that time called The Artillery Regiment. 1904 it was named Royal Goeta Artillery Regiment and at that time it had moved from the centre of Gothenburg to Kviberg where we today find the museum. Up to 1951 the Regiment Artillery pieces were pulled by horses. We can see examples and pictures of this including a front left side horse from a 6-span for pulling such an Artillery howitzer. If you are lucky you will meet retired officer Tor Nordstrom. He was riding this first horse and he can tell you lots about the life of that time. 1952 it became mechanised. You can also see examples of how the Swedish military worked and lived during WW1, WW2 up to 1994 including some items used by officers who served in peace operation under the United Nations contole. A2 was disbanded March 31st 1962. The premises were now over taken by Gota Anti Aircraft Regiment from 1962 until 1994 when the regiment moved on to another town called Halmstad south by Gothenburg.
